MARIO TESTINO’S “UNDRESSED” A STREET ART INTERVENTION

Mario Testino will close his sensuous exhibition Undressed with an edgy street art intervention at the Helmut Newton Foundation on Sunday, 19 November 2017. After a fashionable six month run, the renowned photographer invited three influential female street artists to ‘vandalise’ the larger than life images in the exhibition, for a one day viewing before closure.

“Because of the huge scale of my work in this show, and the way it’s applied directly to the walls like wallpaper – I felt like we had no choice but to experiment with vandalising before taking it down. As soon as I saw it go up in June, I knew I wanted to have someone else deface it and create their own layer of experience”.

Berlin’s Mimi Scholz and Hera of Herakut will join Sandra Chevrier who is flying in from Montreal specifically for the project. Each artist’s individual form of street art will be applied directly to Testino’s work. All works will be destroyed after the close of the exhibition, reflecting the transient nature of street art.
